Ministry Team

Adrian and Lynn Tamblyn-Watts

Jesus found him in early 1979. Adrian’s first spiritual home was Fellowship Tabernacle (AFM) in Observatory, a suburb of Cape Town, under the wise guidance of Pastor Eric Wilson. His journey from there until November 1986 was everything from an adventure to a disaster. God brought Adrian full circle and he recommitted his life to Christ in November ’86. At Maranatha Fellowship under the leadership of pastors Neill and Jenny Jakins, who both Lyn and Adrian are proud to call their spiritual parents, the real development began.

Jesus rescued Lyn in October 1983. Her first local church was the Victory Tabernacle in Brooklyn led by Pastor Arthur Mellon. She then moved onto Maranatha Fellowship in 1985 where she stayed until December 1992. Lyn met Adrian on 14th December 1986 and married on 19th December the following year. For her bravery, she was rewarded with a roller coaster ride of spiritual adventure and the responsibility of managing God’s servant. A mother by calling and many young (and not so young) people in various countries have honoured her as such as the years have gone by.

After much discipleship and training, they were released to minister in the U.K. where they lived from December 1992 until end of September 1998. During that time they served with the Shaftesbury Society, Orpington Christian Fellowship alongside pastors Dave and Chris Hall before planting a work called Christian Community Fellowship about which any number of books could be written, chief of which might be entitled “Innumerable reasons why one should not start a local church.”

Back in South Africa, they joined forces with pastors Clive and Sharon Pawson of Christian Revival Church in Montague Gardens as associate pastors, before establishing and itinerating with Bible Alive Teaching Ministry in April 2000.

In June 2008, B.A.T.M. birthed and established Face 2 Face Family Bible Church, which meets in and works from the B.A.T.M. Centre in Goodwood in the northern suburbs of Cape Town. At present Lyn and Adrian oversee both ministries. He lectures in various Bible schools, speaks at conferences and gets invited to the odd church from time-to-time. In addition, he also writes, blogs and makes a general nuisance of himself. Lyn manages, administrates, edits, proofs, mothers and so on and on and …

Adrian is an avid motorbike enthusiast. The ancient world, particularly the Roman Empire, hold great fascination for him. When not shouting for Liverpool F.C., he enjoys authors such as  C.S. Lewis, Leonard Sweet, Ravi Zacharias, Philip Yancey, Tom Holland, Ranulph Fiennes and Brian McLaren. In addition, he enjoys philosophy wherein both Garfield and Peanuts have proven to be goldmines.

Adrian holds a B.Th. (hons) and a M.Th. from S.A. Theological Seminary. Dr. Chris Peppler served as supervisor for his post-graduate work. For the record, he also holds a Diploma in Marketing Management, Certificate in Journalism and Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Lyn has a true revelation of holiness and sets the bar high for both herself and others while not being religious and legalistic. She has a heart of compassion and is very protective over Adrian and those whom they lead. Protective she may be, but she lets Adrian get away with very little. Her response his ‘bull in china shop mentality’ is to be quiet and allow him to blow himself out, like a gale force wind. Lyn is a woman of prayer and has a great love for her Master’s Word.

Shane and Norah AddinallShane and Norah are a couple of thirty-somethings who have a love for the Lord, based on first hand experience of “we love Him because He first loved us”… the details of their testimony we’ll leave for another day.

Shane has an Ephesians 4:11 call to Teach the Word and a simple, heartfelt way of executing that call. For him if a teaching wins an award but didn’t touch someones heart then it was not worth the paper it was printed on.

On a personal note he is an avid reader, has a love for fantasy and comedy films and in a last ditch attempt to fight of the approaching 40’s throws himself into a few kick boxing classes and the weekly gym session (usually after a burger and fries at his uncles diner).

Norah is by far the quieter one preferring to deal with Shane’s bluster through prayer, that way she always wins! She is currently gearing towards studying her BBA as well as two 9 week courses with Life Line and a weekend course with EAPISA – why you ask – to allow her to combine her passion for animals with her gifting for counselling by working as counsellor for an equine assisted therapy institution.
